Rakitovec, Slovenian Istria, 2017
The village is perched on the slope of the ridge; he is of ancient peasant tradition, it was perhaps built by the first Slavic immigrants who were confined to the desperate plagues of the Karst in the XIII century by the German marquisas who dominated the region at that time.
During the 1600s, the Habsburg troops destroyed the village because it was under Venetian rule. All sorts of massacres and cruel crimes were committed against the population.
Now, the village is on border between Slovenia and Croatia.
